Your money isn't disappearing—it's being spent, often unconsciously, because you might not have a clear plan. Without a plan, it feels like your finances are on a runaway train, leading to confusion and missed opportunities.

Understanding where your money goes begins with awareness. In Proverbs 21:5, the Bible teaches us that "the plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty." Planning isn't just practical, it's also a biblical mandate. The Bible calls us to be good stewards, moving us from survival mode to thriving with purpose.

### How to Break Free from Unconscious Spending 

So, how do you tackle this runaway train of finances? It's simple. Create a snapshot of your income and essential expenses. Here's a step-by-step guide: 

1. **List Your Take-Home Pay**: Begin with what you bring home each month.

2. **Identify Recurring Bills**: Jot down your mortgage, car payments, insurance, and utility costs—things that don't change much month-to-month.

3. **Estimate Flexible Spending**: Consider groceries, gas, and entertainment. 

Sum these up without guilt or shame to get a clear picture of your finances. This step shifts chaos to order and vagueness to vision.

Stepping into financial confidence requires understanding where your money is going. When working with new clients, my initial question is always, "Where does your money go?" If you don't know, it's impossible to fix the problem. The aim is to bring clarity, moving from disorder to peace and from stress to mindfulness.
