**Welcome to Financially Confident Christian**

Hello, dear readers. I'm Ralph, and I'm delighted to have you here today. In our ongoing quest to answer the central question—how can I become a financially confident Christian?—we explore various topics that blend spirituality and financial wisdom. If you missed our last discussion on digital detoxing to save money and find peace, be sure to visit financiallyconfidentchristian.com to catch up.

**Embracing Self-Care from Different Perspectives**

Today, we're shifting gears to dive into self-care. This isn't about the spa days or luxury vacations that might first come to mind, but about a spiritual and financially wise approach. Yes, spa days and extravagant trips are tempting, but they can lead to emotional strain and financial stress if not kept in check.

**Listening to Biblical Wisdom on Rest**

The first principle we’ll discuss is the concept of Sabbath rest, rooted in biblical teachings. The Book of Mark, Chapter 2, Verse 27 reminds us, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." Rest is a gift from God, not a burden, and it shouldn’t be something you feel you need to earn.

**Contentment and Peace**

Our second principle is contentment, as taught in 1 Timothy 6:6: "Godliness with contentment is great gain." Self-care isn't found in material things but in God-centered peace.

**Stewardship of the Body**

Thirdly, let’s consider the stewardship of our bodies, as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Recognizing our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit emphasizes that self-care is an essential stewardship, not a selfish act.

**Practical Steps to Affordable Self-Care**

Today's action step is straightforward: choose two or three simple self-care practices that are affordable and spiritually grounding. Here are some examples:

  • **Enjoy Nature:** Take a walk outside and enjoy the beauty of creation.
  • **Read or Journal:** Both activities can help you grow spiritually and find personal peace.
  • **Pray and Worship:** These cost nothing but enrich your soul tremendously.
  • **Call a Loved One:** Connecting with others can be incredibly renewing.
  • **Creative Activities:** Try music, painting, or crafting—simple ways to bring joy without cost.

**A Mindset Shift**

Treat rest as an appointment with God. Shift your mindset from material lack to peace and gratitude. Start or end your day with gratitude by listing three blessings. This will help transition your thoughts from what you lack to the peace and abundance around you.

**Closing Prayer**

Join me in prayer: Father God, thank you for the gift of rest. Help us to realign with your truth and embrace the joy of simple pleasures. May we find peace and renewal not in spending, but in your presence.

**Take Action This Week**

Finally, dedicate yourself to a single self-care activity this week. Put it on your calendar and treat it as a crucial investment in yourself. And if you’ve found this post helpful, share it with someone in need of encouragement.

Stay tuned for our next post where we'll discuss building a financial first aid kit. Until then, be confident in your financial and spiritual journey. God bless, and have a wonderful day!
