If you’ve ever opened your bank app and felt that familiar pit in your stomach—uncertain, overwhelmed, and unsure where your money has gone—you’re not alone. In this episode of Financially Confident Christian , Ralph explores the surprising peace that comes from something many of us try to avoid: creating a budget. But not just any budget, it's an intentional spending plan rooted in stewardship, purpose, and faith. Ralph:

Hey friend, can I speak right to your heart today?

Ralph:

Have you ever opened up your bank app?

Ralph:

You've taken that deep breath and felt that wave of stress hit

Ralph:

before the numbers are even loaded.

Ralph:

Like your money just vanishes each month and at the end you're

Ralph:

not even sure where it went.

Ralph:

I. Well, you're not alone in that feeling, and if you've been carrying

Ralph:

that kind of anxiety day after day, then today's show is just for you.

Ralph:

Welcome back to Financially Confident Christian.

Ralph:

I'm Ralph and I'm so glad you're here.

Ralph:

This isn't just another show about numbers.

Ralph:

It's about breaking free from that cycle of financial shame

Ralph:

and stepping into a new season of clarity, a new season of confidence,

Ralph:

and yes, a new season of peace.

Ralph:

All with God at the center.

Ralph:

We're continuing our new series on dealing with the stress of money worries, and

Ralph:

today we're talking about the foundation of financial peace, what I call your

Ralph:

intentional spending plan or budget, as most people call it now, maybe when I

Ralph:

say budget, your gut reaction is, ugh, not that word again, Ralph and I get it.

Ralph:

See, for years I thought of a budget as this huge restriction, kind of

Ralph:

like a diet, like putting my money and my freedom on some strong leash.

Ralph:

But here's what's changed everything for me.

Ralph:

One day I stopped calling it a budget and I started calling it what it really is.

Ralph:

And what it really is, is an intentional spending plan.

Ralph:

And you might be thinking, Ralph, you've lost it.

Ralph:

Why?

Ralph:

Why is that?

Ralph:

Why is it an intentional spending plan?

Ralph:

That's exactly what it is.

Ralph:

It's not about deprivation, it's about direction.

Ralph:

It's not about what you can't do.

Ralph:

It's about being intentional with what God has given you so that every

Ralph:

dollar that you have has a purpose.

Ralph:

It's a plan that tells your money where to go on purpose instead of

Ralph:

constantly wondering where it went.

Ralph:

And see when you live with that kind of clarity, your stress

Ralph:

just starts to fade away.

Ralph:

You move from chaos, You move from chaos to confidence.

Ralph:

Let's just look at scripture for a moment.

Ralph:

The Book of Proverbs, chapter 16, verse nine, says this in their

Ralph:

hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

Ralph:

See, this is stewardship.

Ralph:

This is trust in action.

Ralph:

Let me just tell you something.

Ralph:

When you make an intentional spending plan, you're saying this boldly to God.

Ralph:

You're saying, God, I trust you've given me enough and I'm

Ralph:

gonna choose to be wise with it.

Ralph:

Now, I'm gonna share today's action step in just a few moments, but first, as we

Ralph:

continue in this series together today, I wanna give you something to help you.

Ralph:

So for the first hundred listeners that go to the website, financially

Ralph:

confident christian.com/master, I'm giving away a free copy of my book.

Ralph:

Now that book is called Mastering Your Finances.

Ralph:

It's not some huge elaborate plan.

Ralph:

It's just 47 pages, but it's packed with practical steps to help you

Ralph:

finally take control of your money, and maybe more importantly, your mindset.

Ralph:

See this isn't just a giveaway.

Ralph:

It might be the very tool that you need right now in the season that you're in to

Ralph:

break that cycle of financial shame and step into your next season of confidence.

Ralph:

So please do this.

Ralph:

Don't wait.

Ralph:

Head to financially confident christian.com/master and grab your copy

Ralph:

today because I really wanna share this resource with you 'cause I've walked

Ralph:

this path before and I do know what it feels like to finally breathe again.

Ralph:

Out.

Ralph:

Here's today's one small step.

Ralph:

I want you to do your own intentional spending plan.

Ralph:

I want you to start by writing your monthly income at the top of the page,

Ralph:

that snapshot we took the other day.

Ralph:

Use that.

Ralph:

Then I want you to list your most important categories first,

Ralph:

those things like housing.

Ralph:

And food and transportation, and then utilities.

Ralph:

Then I want you to add a line for giving and saving, and then a couple

Ralph:

fun money things, but I want you to be sure to give every dollar a job.

Ralph:

This is what we call in the trade zero based budgeting.

Ralph:

Income minus expenses should equal zero.

Ralph:

That way no money is drifting on its own without a mission.

Ralph:

Finally, I want you to remember, keep it simple.

Ralph:

You don't need a fancy spreadsheet.

Ralph:

You just need seven or 10 items.

Ralph:

A pen and paper works just fine.

Ralph:

What really matters the most is that you start, that you do it.

Ralph:

So go do that today.

Ralph:

Well, how about we pray together?

Ralph:

Father, we thank you for being our ultimate provider.

Ralph:

And Lord, we just confess that often we've lived without a plan.

Ralph:

We've reacted instead of stewarding.

Ralph:

But today, Lord, we wanna live intentionally.

Ralph:

Lord, we ask that you would help us to see this not as a

Ralph:

burden, but truly as a blessing.

Ralph:

Lord, give us peace in the process.

Ralph:

Strength to stay the course Lord, and wisdom to walk in your truth.

Ralph:

And Lord, we just ask this in confidence.

Ralph:

In Jesus' name.

Ralph:

Amen.

Ralph:

Friend, you don't have to live in stress and shame anymore.

Ralph:

You can create your own intentional spending plan.

Ralph:

You can begin today to break that stress.

Ralph:

You can do it right now because listen to me, you can do this.

Ralph:

I have confidence in you.

Ralph:

So have confidence in yourself.

Ralph:

Now, tomorrow we'll be talking about the real work of budgeting.

Ralph:

We're gonna be tracking your spending with purpose and not guilt.

Ralph:

You don't wanna miss it.

Ralph:

So make sure you join me tomorrow and let's go out there today

Ralph:

and be financially confident.

Ralph:

Christians stay financially savvy.

Ralph:

God bless you, and you have a great day today.
